Their work goes beyond the tap. Public health, safety, and sustainability all begin with our water workforce.
Every time you turn on the tap, flush a toilet, or see a clean stream flowing through your neighborhood, you’re witnessing the work of dedicated individuals who keep our communities running smoothly — often behind the scenes. Today we celebrate those #H2Opros for the 11th year of Water Professionals Appreciation Day.
What is Water Professionals Appreciation Day?
It’s a day set aside to honor the people who ensure safe, clean water and reliable wastewater services for homes, schools, hospitals, and businesses across the state. But more than a one-day recognition, it’s a celebration of passion, expertise, and public service. At the Douglasville-Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority (WSA), we are proud to join utilities across various municipalities in recognizing the incredible individuals who make our mission possible. Our operators, engineers, maintenance crews, lab analysts, customer service specialists, communications team, and everyone in between — each of them plays a vital role in delivering award-winning service to the Douglas County community.
For us, water is more than a resource — it’s a responsibility. Water is the backbone to the viability and sustainability of not only our community, but those across the state and country. Our team meets that responsibility with unwavering commitment. Rain or shine, weekends or holidays, they show up — not for praise, but because they care deeply about protecting public health and the environment.
Their dedication is evident not just in daily operations, but in the accolades they’ve earned. From statewide awards in water and wastewater treatment and safety to leading the charge in water education and community outreach, WSA’s employees shine bright as the water professional All-Stars they are. As we celebrate this important day, we want to extend our gratitude — not just to our own team, but to water professionals everywhere. Thank you for your service, your skill, and your heart. You keep our communities strong, healthy, and flowing forward.
Happy Water Professionals Appreciation Day from WSA!
