Curious about why wastewater matters to our community?
Wastewater is a big deal in Douglas County. Thousands of wastewater flow daily from homes, schools, and businesses to treatment plants. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the South Central Wastewater Plant treats approximately 3 million gallons of wastewater daily. Without proper wastewater management, untreated water containing chemicals, bacteria, and other pollutants could pose a risk to public health and the environment. Wastewater treatment removes these contaminants, ensuring clean water is returned to our rivers and streams. It is crucial to public health, preventing waterborne disease, and protecting our local ecosystems.
Don’t miss out—join us on November 9 at the South Central Wastewater Treatment Plant for an exciting, educational look at how our “award-winning service” supports the health and sustainability of our community!
