Spring Open House: The Wonders of Water Treatment

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind-the-scenes to ensure that the water flowing to your tap is clean and safe to drink? Are you ready to dive into the world of water?

Mark your calendars and join us from 10 am to 2 pm on May 11 at our award-winning Bear Creek Water Treatment Plant! Whether you are curious about science or want a day of family entertainment, this free and educational event offers something for everyone to enjoy.

Dive into the world of STEM with hands-on activities that will spark curiosity, such as our Filtration Station or Water Cycle activities. Enjoy a hands-on demonstration with our Enviroscape and learn how stormwater runoff carries pollution through a watershed to a lake, river, and more. Learn about the Four Flushable P’s (and why paper towels and flushable wipes should not be flushed).

Test your skills and challenge your friends and family with Toilet Toss, our version of Cornhole. Climb aboard, explore, and get up close and personal with specialized machinery that our maintenance crews use in the field! Stay hydrated throughout the day with free ice-cold water from our H2O-To-Go tank.

Explore further as you tour our award-winning water treatment plant, named the “2022 Plant of the Year” by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals! This is your chance to witness firsthand the innovative processes and cutting-edge technologies that drive our commitment to providing our community with safe, clean drinking water.

From the Dog River Reservoir to your homes and businesses, you’ll be amazed by the intricate steps it takes and the H2O pros who make it all possible. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity on May 11 to learn about the importance of water conservation, treatment, and celebrate its vital role in our lives and community!
